Allí y entonces: Crónicas de un desplazamiento

La muestra / The exhibition

 

Todo aquel que haya migrado y no necesariamente por desplazamientos violentos, en algún momento se siente suspendido, tanto desde lo físico como lo temporal. Una inquietud recorre al cuerpo, que carece de cualquier relación con el entorno en el que habita. Los pies sienten que no pueden aferrarse a ningún terreno. Y en algún punto, una angustia leve crece de repente con la pregunta “¿Y si no puedo volver?” Luego del desconcierto y la exploración inicial, comienzan las negociaciones con el nuevo lugar que se habita; el bucear en la memoria, en los objetos, en los recuerdos, para la construcción (reconstrucción) de una identidad, para intentar recuperar lo perdido o dejado atrás. 

 

Everyone who has migrated—not necessarily because of violent displacement—at some point feels suspended, both physically and temporally. A sense of unease moves through the body, which no longer feels connected to the environment it inhabits. The feet feel unable to find firm ground. And at some point, a quiet anxiety suddenly rises with the question: "What if I can't go back?" After the initial disorientation and exploration, the process of negotiating with the new place begins: diving into memory, objects, and recollections in order to construct (or reconstruct) an identity, to try to recover what has been lost or left behind.
